ドークボット、楽しかったです！
今日は名古屋に来ています. お付き合いいただいているからくり人形師、萬屋仁兵衛さんの個展＋実演を堪能してきました.
お近くの方は名都美術館で8月10日まで開催されていますので、是非見に行ってみてください、それも実演のある日に！（すごく混みます、実演時間の1時間前には入館されることをお勧めします）
エレクトロニクスなしで、ここまで、できるのか！と感激しました．

それはさておき、ドークボット B∀Z∀∀Rに参加してきました（観客では2回見に来ていて、今回初参加）！
実に楽しすぎました．お買い上げいただいたお客様、ありがとうございました. まさか、開場30分でLilypad Arduinoが売り切れるとは思っていませんでした. おまえら狙っていたなあ！
出血大サービスで販売させていただきましたが、普段オンラインショップで、お客様とふれあう機会がないので、今回の様な機会はすごく刺激を受けました．それだけで十分元は取ったぜ、という感じ．去年のMake:Tokyo Meetingもすごかったけれど、今回もすごかったなあ．
ステージのパフォーマンスも実にイけていて、たっぷり楽しませていただきました. MCなべちゃん最高！ Tシャツ売ってくれませんか？と聞いたら非売品とのこと．あれは売れますよ、ぼくは買います．すいません、今週買った眼鏡はメガネドラッグですが．．．

"Mysterious Night Flower"の製作をお手伝いしました
(リハーサル時にiPhoneで撮影したものなので今ひとつの画質ですが。。。) #iPadなどで見られないのでムービを差し替えました。その際に手ぶれ補正をしています。
昨年末に丸の内で開催された「ライティングオブジェ2010」に出展するためにライトモードアーティスト柏原エリナ氏が制作された「"Mysterious Night Flower"のお手伝いをさせていただきました。
今回は簡単に技術面についてだけ書いてみます(ドレスの仕上がりをうまく表現する言葉が見つからないのですが、とても「カメラ泣かせ」な美しさです。特に立体感がすばらしく、下半身が消え去ってドレスの中に宇宙空間が現れたかのような印象です)。
当初はLilyPad Arduinoを二つぐらい使ってLEDの明滅をON/OFFではなくきれいなフェーディングでやりましょう的にスタートしたプロジェクトだったのですが、柏原さんと試行錯誤を重ねるうちにどんどん欲も出てきてしまいちょっとばかり当初の計画よりはスケールが多少大きくなってしまっています。
プログラムで決め打ちした明滅のパターンでは物足りないですし、ドレスですから実際に人が着れるようにしたい、展示会で実際にディスプレイした際に周囲の環境(主に明るさですね)に合わせたりする作業をできるだけ手軽にできるようにしたい、音楽にも合わせたい、などなどを盛りこむと、ではめんどうだからPCを使ってしまえ!ということでPC上の照明制御用の専用アプリを使って操作することにしました。
照明の世界ではDMX-512という通信規格がよく使われ、対応するアプリケーションもMac/PCともにたくさん存在します。機器側（照明装置）も多数市販品があるのですが、小さなLED対応で実際のドレスのどこかに内蔵が可能でなおかつパフォーマがドレスを着て動くこともできるようにしたいということと、前述の通りLilyPad Arduinoをきっかけにスタートしたという経緯もあってArduinoを使って機器を製作させていただきました。
やっていることはシンプルで、PC上のアプリから送出されるDMX512の信号をArduinoで受信し、LEDの明暗を制御してあげています。
ただし、LEDの数量もそれなりに多くなってしまったのでドレスの背中側に装着する小さなBOXに6個のArduino Miniをぎゅっと詰め込んで全部で120個のLEDを255分解能（消えている状態から一番明るい状態までを255で分割して変化させられるという意味です）で明るさを制御しています(Arduino Miniがたくさん余っていた、ということもあるのですが。。。）。
250kbpsのDMX512を受信しつつソフトウェアPWMをやっていますので、実は分解能的にはかなりインチキなところもあるのですが時間も予算も限りがありますので今回はぐっと我慢しています。
LEDはどんなものを接続するか当初はわからなかったですし、違う特性のものを混ぜる可能性もあったので、明るさの指令値とDuty比の関係はテーブルを参照する形にしてあります。
テーブルはGoogle Docsの表計算でガンマを指定することで生成してArduinoのスケッチのコピペして使います。
そんなわけで、PC上の照明制御用アプリからは単純にたくさんの灯体がドレスに付いているというだけ、に見えるので、様々なパターンで光の演出をさせることはとてもお気楽にできるようになり、ライティングオブジェ2010ではドレスの前においたトイピアノの鍵盤を観客が押すといろいろなパターンで演出が始まる、という趣向になっていました。
その際に音楽も合わせて再生され、音楽と照明が共演するのですが、その音楽を作曲された石井里奈さんの演奏がホールで行われる機会があったのでドレスを着ていただいてのライブパフォーマンスを行うことになり、その本番が今日でした。
もともと定置での展示がメインでしたので、DMX512は有線で送らざるを得ないため、電源(バッテリ)はドレスに内蔵しましたが細い通信用ケーブルを舞台袖から引きずっての登場でした。チーム全体でリハーサルを繰り返していたので完璧なステージだったと思います。
また機会がありましたらぜひお手伝いをさせていただきたいなあ、と思っています。

LEDの撮影って結構大変ですよね。LEDに合わせると光っていない部分が真っ暗になってしまいますし。
ところで、PCとArduinoとの接続はどうされてるんですか？
有線だと、モデルさんが歩くたびにPCをズルズル引きずるなんてことになりそうですが（笑）。

DMX512はRS-485なので、
PC -> USB-UART -> RS485トランシーバ -> 30mの細い線(2芯) -> RS485トランシーバ -> Arduino
って感じで接続しています。トランシーバにはLTC1487を使用なので小さくてらくらく。
ものすごーく無線にしたかったんですが、予算も時間もないし、本番までどんな電波状況かわからないしで有線。むしろ小さいPCを背中にぶら下げたほうが楽だったかな?
